ABOUT US

The Asian American Advocacy Fund (AAAF), as an organization that is dedicated to social justice, presents the Artivism Lab to uplift issues of importance to Asian Americans. Art has always been intertwined with the world of activism, serving as an accessible way to engage in conversation around social issues and empower communities to tell their own stories. Artivism as a term provides us with the opportunity to intentionally engage artists and audiences with new ways to build and create a world that sustains dignity, love, and belonging for us all.

AAAF’s Artivism Lab exists to empower Asian American artists, highlight Asian American narratives in public art spaces, and inspire our communities to action.

ABOUT AAAF

The Asian American Advocacy Fund is a grassroots 501(c)4 social welfare organization dedicated to building a politically-conscious, engaged, and progressive Asian American base in Georgia.

MISSION: The Asian American Advocacy Fund’s mission is to advocate for the civil and human rights of Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders, and Native Hawaiians in Georgia. Through a combination of policy advocacy at local, state, and federal levels, and by supporting candidates that believe in our values, we fight to create a better Georgia for us all.

VISION: Our vision is a Georgia where Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders, and Native Hawaiians voices are represented in elected leadership and progressive policies across the state.

Guiding Principles

The following principles are designed to ensure that we build an equitable, respectful, and effective partnership with creatives; a relationship that is rewarding and inspiring for everyone involved.

Foster inclusivity:

We understand that the Asian American community is diverse. We aim to create an inclusive artistic space by working with local Asian American creatives representing a range of ethnicities, gender identities, and languages, and celebrating their diverse perspectives and experiences.

Expanding access:

We seek to provide creatives, regardless of their background or resources, with the tools, knowledge, and opportunities necessary for artistic growth and success.

Transparency:

We strive to maintain clear and open communication with creatives, from the beginning and throughout the process of projects. We aim to involve creatives as projects take form to ensure that our work is adequately informed by their perspectives.

Authenticity:

We seek to partner with creatives who have an authentic connection to the issues we are working on in order to best relate to the communities we are trying to reach.

Compensation:

We aim to compensate our creatives appropriately with consideration for related costs such as supplies and production.

Credit:

We will credit creatives wherever their work is featured.

Usage:

Wherever artwork may be displayed we aim to provide an advance courtesy notification.
